Mt Eden Garden

The brief for this project was to bring a sense of design to a back deck and garden located on the side of Mt Eden.

There were challenges around access, consent and construction on this steep site, but with the use of stone retaining and careful consideration of finished levels for the constructed elements of the garden, what had been an area of rough grass and stone has been transformed into an attractive, coherent outdoor space.

The curving lines of the basalt stone walls and honed concrete steps provide stylish retaining and access, while allowing space for the small lawn the owners had requested and for a mix of native and exotic planting that looks good all year round.
